Lesson 7

Blessed for Making Peace, Strong Under Pressure

Key Bible Verses

Matthew 5:9

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."

Matthew 5:10

"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Matthew 5:11-12

"Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven..."

Helpful Explanation

A peacemaker is not someone who avoids conflict or pretends everything is fine. A peacemaker is someone who actively works to bring people together and to restore broken relationships. When we help settle disputes, when we refuse to spread gossip, and when we work for unity in our families and communities, we are acting like children of God—because God Himself is the great peacemaker who reconciled us to Himself through Christ. Jesus also warns his followers that living for God may bring opposition. Some people may mock you, exclude you, or treat you unfairly because of your faith. But Jesus says this is a reason to rejoice, because a great reward awaits in heaven.

Practical Application

Is there a conflict in your family or community that you can help resolve? Instead of taking sides or staying silent, ask God for wisdom to speak words of peace and reconciliation. If you face mockery or difficulty because of your faith, remember that Jesus Himself was rejected. You are not alone. Stand firm and trust that God sees your faithfulness.
